Stubbs and Nielsen Contribute to 2024 ALFA Product Liability Compendium and Quick Reference Guide

Baker Sterchi attorneys Kara Stubbs and Jack Nielsen, both based in Kansas City, contributed to the Missouri section of the 2024 ALFA International (ALFA) Product Liability & Complex Torts Practice Group’s Compendium on Attorney-Client Privilege. The compendium provides a comprehensive overview of key case law and statutes on attorney-client and work product privileges, outlining when communications are considered privileged, requirements for joint-defense or common-interest situations, common pitfalls that can result in loss of privilege and recent trends and limitations.

Stubbs also contributed to the Missouri section of the 2024 Product Liability & Complex Torts Practice Group Product Liability Quick Reference Guide, a concise multi-state resource for clients that provides an overview of key topics in product liability personal injury cases, including statutes of limitations, liability standards, fault allocation, caps on damages, punitive damages, available defenses, and more.

Stubbs represents product manufacturers and defends class action cases in Missouri and Kansas. She is co-chair of Baker Sterchi’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Practice Group and a Steering Committee member and former chair of ALFA’s Product Liability & Complex Tort Practice Group. Stubbs has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for her defense of clients in mass tort litigation, class actions, personal injury and product liability matters in the Kansas City area. Since 2016, she has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal: Life Sciences for her product liability defense practice.

Nielsen’s practice covers several areas, including personal injury and product liability. He is a member of DRI’s Young Lawyers and Drug & Medical Device Committees.
