Accurate Case Assessment at Mediation and Positive Trial Outcome

Baker Sterchi successfully defended a bad faith insurance claim. At mediation, shortly before trial, we evaluated the settlement value of the claim at $225,000 and offered that amount at the mediation. Prior to mediation and trial, the court ruled the policy at issue did afford coverage.  At trial, plaintiffs asked the jury for over $32,000,000.  After a weeklong trial, the jury returned a verdict in the amount of $225,000, demonstrating our ability to effectively evaluate and successfully defend a case in which plaintiff sought millions of dollars in the face of a ruling favorable to plaintiff prior to trial.
