Baker Sterchi Member Greg Odom to Present to Illinois Businesses Regarding Legal Challenges Posed by Covid-19

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has issued numerous executive orders and declared a state of emergency. As the virus spreads, Illinoisans face unprecedented personal and professional challenges.  Businesses have been forced to shutdown or significantly change their operations as a consequence of Covid-19.  Moreover, it remains unclear when businesses will be allowed to resume normal operations.  Because the legal requirements related to Covid-19 are constantly evolving, and due to the health hazards associated with the virus, it is imperative for businesses to understand their legal obligations during the pandemic.  Violating legal requirements related to Covid-19 not only exposes businesses to potential legal liability, but also could place employees and customers at risk.

Baker Sterchi Member Greg Odom will be presenting to businesses in southern Illinois to assist them in navigating the legal challenges posed by Covid-19.  Specifically, Odom is giving a presentation titled "Covid-19, the Law, and Your Business: A Legal Analysis of the Illinois Executive Orders Issued in Response to Covid-19, Insurance Coverage Considerations for Businesses Due to Covid-19, and the Relationship Between the Federal Government and State Government."

Odom will present to the Southern Illinois University Small Business Development Center and Centralia Chamber of Commerce by webinar on April 2, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.  He will then present to the Southern Eastern Illinois College Small Business Development Center and the Saline County Chamber of Commerce  via webinar on April 3, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.  During the presentation, Odom will analyze the requirements of the executive orders issued by Governor Pritzker in response to Covid-19.  He also will discuss potential insurance coverage issues that might arise for businesses, as well as possible legal claims businesses could face, as a result of the virus.  Finally, he will explore the relationship between the Federal Government and the State of Illinois in their efforts to combat Covid-19.

If you would like any additional information, or are interested in attending one of the webinars, contact Odom at godom@bakersterchi.com.
